Modules of Licensing Program

Module 1

Knowledge of Abu Dhabi

During your Abu Dhabi Tourist Guide Training and Licensing programme you will be presented with study materials provided to you in a number of ways. (Refer to your pre-programme information.)
This first module: module one, portfolio 1, is a minimum of a four-week, self-study portfolio containing a vast amount of information that you will need to learn, and importantly, remember, and use throughout the rest of your course.

Module 2

History and Culture of Abu Dhabi

This module begins by recapping on the tangible and intangible culture and heritage knowledge presented in module 1. You will define the meanings of tangible and intangible heritage and give examples of both within Abu Dhabi. You will then examine a Big Bus Tour map and select the historical and cultural elements within a segment of the Abu Dhabi city tour. 

Module 3

Abu Dhabi Sites and Attractions

This module will help you embed geographical knowledge of Abu Dhabi to enable you to give visitors information and directions to a range of sites and attractions within both the City and Districts. It will ensure that you are comfortable to use an Abu Dhabi city map and locate a wide range of visitor attractions and sites.  

Module 4

Principles of Guiding

Through work in this module, trainees will learn about the role and responsibilities of a tourist guide, and learn how to develop their awareness of themselves as a guide and what they can bring to the role to ensure they deliver high quality tours to their visitors. The module outlines the principles of guiding, and the procedures that should be followed when guiding a tour. 

Module 5

Coach Guiding Excellence

Here, you will also get to explore guiding activities and procedures that can be used to consistently deliver well organized and good quality tours, whether in a bus or a walking tour. Furthermore, you’ll get to know more about sustainable, responsible, and ethical guiding in different locations and attractions including religious, natural, and historical sites.

Module 6

Customer Service, Communication, and Presentation Skills

Through work in this module, trainees will learn about the role and responsibilities of a tourist guide, and learn how to develop their awareness of themselves as a guide and what they can bring to the role to ensure they deliver high quality tours to their visitors. The module outlines the principles of guiding, and the procedures that should be followed when guiding a tour. 

Module 7

Group Management

Through work in this module, trainees will learn about the role and responsibilities of a tourist guide, and learn how to develop their awareness of themselves as a guide and what they can bring to the role to ensure they deliver high quality tours to their visitors.
